What reconditioned means here
Not second-hand. Rebuilt, checked and certified
Every reconditioned instrument goes through the same workshop that calibrates kit for main contractors. It is stripped to the chassis, cleaned, rebuilt with new wearing parts and set to the manufacturer's tolerance on our test range. It leaves with a dated certificate and the same warranty as a new sale: twelve months, parts and labour.

The process
How an instrument earns the reconditioned label

Assess and strip
Each instrument is bench-tested when it arrives. If it can't be brought back to the maker's specification we don't sell it. Anything that passes is stripped to the chassis.

Clean and rebuild
Optics, bearings, seals and contacts are cleaned or replaced. Batteries that no longer hold a full shift's charge are swapped for new ones.

Calibrate and prove
Level, grade, angle and distance are set on the test range and checked again after a soak. Receivers are matched to the laser they ship with.

Certify and warrant
A dated, serial-numbered certificate and twelve months of warranty backed by the workshop that did the work. Then it goes in a case with the right accessories.
Questions
What people ask before they buy reconditioned
Straight answers from the counter.
What's the difference between reconditioned and used?
Used is sold as seen. Reconditioned means the instrument has been stripped, cleaned, rebuilt with new wearing parts, calibrated on our test range and certified, then covered by a 12-month warranty. We don't sell anything as seen.
What does the 12-month warranty cover?
Parts and labour on any fault that isn't caused by a drop, water ingress or misuse, for twelve months from the invoice date. If it needs to come back to us, we can usually put a loan unit out so the job carries on.
Will main contractors accept the certificate?
Yes. It is the same dated, serial-numbered certificate we issue on a calibration, traceable to our reference equipment, with a PDF copy emailed for site inductions.
Why isn't there much listed online?
Because it sells quickly. Most reconditioned instruments go to trade customers who have asked us to look out for a particular model. Ring or send an enquiry and we'll tell you what's on the bench and what's due in.
Can I see it working before I buy?
Yes. Come to the counter at North Hykeham and we'll set it up on the range for you. If you're further away, we'll send photos and the calibration figures before you commit.
Does it come with a case and accessories?
Every instrument ships as a working kit: case, charger, batteries and the accessories it needs to run, such as a receiver and bracket with a rotating laser. Tripods and staffs are extra unless the listing says otherwise.
Can I part-exchange against new as well?
Yes. The same offer applies whether you're buying reconditioned or new. Send us the details and we'll price the trade-in before you order.
